Leadership and Enrichment Activities
We have an active Sixth Form Leadership Team which is comprised of Academy Presidents, Vice Presidents and other senior roles. There are regular meetings to discuss all aspects of Sixth Form life and agenda items include academic topics, opportunities within the Academy/local community, fundraising and student-led social events.
Extended Project Qualification
This qualification is a stand-alone qualification at AS Level. On completion the students will receive a grade between A*-E and the UCAS points that accompany that grade. It provides students with an opportunity to exercise their abilities beyond the A-Level syllabus and develop their research and independent learning skills
D of E Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of activities for anyone aged 14-24. Over the last 60 years millions of young people across the globe, from all backgrounds and circumstances, have given it their all through their DofE Award. The DofE leaves a footprint on their lives, as their Award opens doors to new jobs, cements life-long friendships, broadens interests and stretches horizons.
Our students are offered an extensive enrichment programme including sporting activities, music activities and the opportunity to join a reporting club, study an additional language and support younger students.
Sixth Formers are encouraged to spend at least one lesson a week supporting Key Stage 3 lessons and / or tutoring Key Stage 4 maths and English students. These hours will also go towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award and will also demonstrate leadership and communication skills. Students are also given the opportunity to support with promotional events such as open evenings.
